Pisum sativum This cold-hardy overwintering pea is an excellent choice for cooler, poorly drained soils that may not be conducive to other legumes. Fixes 70-120 pounds per acre of nitrogen. Sow in the fall or as soon as possible in the spring. Can be worked in late April or early May. Recommended seeding rate: 2-4 pounds per 1000 square feet; 75-100 pounds per acre.
